British Retinitis Pigmentosa Society

Retinitis Pigmentosa is the name given to a group of hereditary disorders which affect the Retina, the light sensitive tissue at the back of the eye where the retina cells die leading to sight loss and blindness. About 25,000 people in the UK have RP and presently there is no cure. In some cases both sight and hearing are lost. RP can be very aggressive in the young. The British Retinitis Pigmentosa Society does not receive any government funding and all funds raised go to our medical research team who are trying to find a cure. To bring you up to date with research news, human clinical trials have just started, and could take 5 to 10 years to complete each stage. This is dependant on funding.
British Retinitis Pigmentosa Society will receive £1 per recyclable cartridge and £3 per recyclable mobile phone that you register and return.
