Friends of East Surrey Hospital
The aim of the Charity is to raise funds for the benefit of patients and staff at East Surrey Hospital. The Friends provide financial assistance for projects where funding from traditional sources such as either central or local Government is more difficult to obtain. Apart from subscriptions, donations and legacies, the largest proportion of the Friends income comes from the two Coffee Shops which operate at the Hospital and are staffed entirely by volunteers.
The major funding of late has been the provision of more than £375,000 towards the cost of the new CT scanner. Grants have also been provided to individual departments such as maternity, dermatology, accident & emergency, physiotherapy and speech therapy. Other beneficiaries have included the Sunshine Day Nursery and the Explorers and Scouts for plants to help them maintain the courtyard gardens within the Hospital grounds.
